The Wagon Incident
Buck Ramsey's short story "The Wagon Incident" was written for publication in a magazine. The original story called "A Beginning," is the basis for his epic poem Grass. Billy Deaver, the leading character in Grass and "The Wagon Incident," was inspired by Buck's Uncle Ed. At fourteen, Ed Williams ran away from home and joined a cowboy tribe, remaining a cowboy all his life.
